You can still access the sounds and features fairly easily. With that said, mobile apps help make up for the lack of display screen on the instrument.

Thanks for the question! I'm not entirely sure to be honest. Sometimes these letter codes are used for fairly generic names (GP = Grand Piano, UP = Upright Piano, etc.). To that point, it is possible that this code simply stands for "Schimmel Piano." However, I am really not sure.

Yes - the GP310 and GP510 are still more advanced instruments. Their action in particular puts them in a higher tier.

With that said, perhaps, we will have to tackle a comparison between the pianos featured in this video and the MODX8. We will do our best to tackle that if possible!

It is tough to argue against the VPC1! If you are comfortable with using VSTs, it provides one heckuva playing experience. :)

Hi there! Given that one is a grand piano and one is an upright, it is a bit of an apples to oranges comparison. The A6 is a slightly higher quality tier, but there are a plethora of benefits with a grand piano of course, which makes this a deeply subjective decision.

I certainly agree with your sentiments on the CA49/CA401 models. They are incredible instruments for the money. The all-wooden key sticks of the GFC action is impressively authentic. These are excellent models for a serious student to learn/practice on if a digital piano is required over an acoustic piano.

Hi! Brent here! The ES920's tone engine is parallel to the CA501, but the action and speaker system is parallel to the CN201. :)

So moving to a 701 is a big move up from a 920

The Roland FP10 is an excellent, cost-effective solution in my opinion. :)

Yes - the Bosendorfer grand sounds are featured in some Yamaha models. Congrats on your RD88! That is very exciting. It is a fantastic piano! I know you will be thrilled with it. :)

@@MerriamPianos Thanks for your prompt reply! And within these systems, one particular comparison you may want to consider is the ATX3-L in Kawai K15 vs the SC3 in Yamaha B1. I believe these are the lowest price points on both brands for acoustics with silent systems. Moreover the ATX3-L would appear to be a limited version of the ATX3, so maybe inferior to the SC3? But prices of both are very similar (Yamaha’s model being only 6% more expensive in this part of the world). Thanks again :)

The MP11SE is an amazing instrument - that is for sure! It is above the $5000 price point here in Canada. But, relatively speaking, it is an excellent value considering the quality of the musical experience it provides. :)

For sure! This is a very good point. There are some big pricing disparities between different regions/markets.

We are located in Canada, so the prices being referenced are usually in CAD. It should also be noted that the price gaps vary between different markets.

I have not heard about any complaints on my end to be honest. I didn't think the max polyphony was particularly limiting.

Maybe they were talking about a MIDI issue. Limited in channels? Or was that a different Roland product?

That is fair. The lighter touch and shorter pivot lengths won't be for everyone, but the new Casio instruments are awesome pianos with a great combination of touch, tone, features, and aesthetics.

I was told by a music store salesman (I'm in the UK) that the HP's are due to be replaced soon. I think we will see a variation on the Piano reality modelling that's in the new LX models. I play a HP702 every week for church worship. It's an amazing instrument. Though there's a few raw/brash notes that I just can't soften up to my liking - to left of middle C. But I really like Roland pianos, and also own a FP60X. Will almost certainly be buying a new HP or Clavanova for my house in the next year. Yamaha have just announced replacements for their CLP series (800). But cost is a major factor. The 735 mentioned in this video has been £2200 plus for a good while now, and just recently dropped down to around £1700. Basically Yamaha are significantly more expensive than equivalent Roland and Kawai, here in UK. Id be interested to Know why!

We have not received any updates from our Roland reps regarding an update to the HP line, but it would make sense for that to be on the horizon in the not-so-distant future. :)

you don't really *need* to upgrade from an FP30X, that is a sufficient piano for everything really. But if you really *want* to, it will be a slight improvement in feel, but very costly.

It is a decision that every player has to make for themselves. Some players begin their journey on $50,000 grand pianos for instance. There are no specific rules or guidelines, but my word of advice is this: if budget permits and you can hear/feel the difference, it may be worth making the upgrade.

@@MerriamPianos Thank you MP. I bought the FP30X following Stu's recommendation and have been very happy with it through headphones, but I don't like the backfacing speakers for non headphone play. Apart from that, it does everything I need it to, and it feels pretty good, although some of the notes cut out prematurely. With no accessible stores, I depend upon reviews like yours to make buying decisions.

I certainly agree with the sentiment! The FANTOM-08 is a powerhouse instrument for the money. The portability factor especially makes it a home run for the gigging musician. :)

I am not sure to be honest. For reference, the price of a new ES920 here in Canada is $2399 at this time.

In my experiences, the P525's touch is lighter than the ES920's. :)

@@MerriamPianos thanks!! Ima def go with it then! I found the touch on the 525 to be too light but I’ve read people saying online that the ES920 is even lighter but they must not know what they are talking about!

We are not Dexibell dealers, so it is a little tougher to tackle reviewing their pianos. I have heard good things, but I don't have too much experience with them myself. Perhaps, we will have an opportunity to review/compare them in the future. :)

@@MerriamPianos nice! Thank you for the response. 🙂 Dexibell have both stage and home digital pianos that, IMHO, hold their own very well against Roland, Yamaha, and Kawai. OTOH, regardless of the brand, we live in a time of incredible selection, where the differences between the brands are much more about preference than overall quality, features, and price!

It is hard to find any digital piano/keyboard with realistic sounding sax and guitar sounds in my opinion. I think there are VST plug-ins that do a much better job at capturing the essence and qualities of these particular instruments.

Hi! Brent here! Thanks for tuning in! I can certainly understand your points, but it should be noted that many of the Roland pianos can do individual note volume and tone adjustments via the Piano Designer app. It all comes down to a matter of preference at the end of the day.

It is a matter of personal preference of course. They're both solid pianos. I would personally give a slight edge to the LX5 due to the action in particular. Roland offers some of the most authentic feeling actions in my opinion. :)

Hi there! The FANTOM-08 is a powerhouse instrument for the money. In terms of the SuperNATURAL piano tones, it really comes down to a matter of preference. There are quite a few piano tones to choose from and you can always customize further if desired. I am personally a huge fan of the SuperNATURAL tone engine. :)

That is certainly a good way of putting it. They both offer very different flavours musically. I think you made a wonderful choice with the FP-E50 though! It is a powerhouse machine for the money. :)

I would say that the FP90X has a superior piano experience (i.e. better action and tone engine), but they are different offerings. The RD88 is far more portable. It is ultimately intended for stage use and gigging. The FP90X is certainly a gig worthy instrument as well, but it is quite a bit larger.

I am not familiar with that piano brand. With that said, if it is an acoustic piano, I would recommend having a technician come out to assess the instrument.

There is certainly some crossover between the two feature offerings (ZEN-Core engine, accompaniment features, etc.). With that said, the FP-E50's core piano experience is far superior of course. But, it all comes down to context of use. The portability factor of the GO:Keys 5 may be appealing for some customers.

The GP310 is a very different instrument aesthetically of course. With that said, the GP310 is a step up from the GP3 in my opinion.
